Asama Onsen, home to Stay MATSUMOTO, has many inviting hot springs for day visitors.
Here are a few of our favourites. First up is Biwa no Yu.
This day-use hot spring revives the palace baths favoured about 400 years ago by Matsumoto Castle lords Ishikawa Kazumasa and Yasunaga. Its setting still evokes that earlier time. Enjoy clear, colourless, mildly alkaline simple spring water, with a large indoor bath, an open-air hinoki-cypress bath, a rustic outdoor bath with seasonal views, a sauna and a cold bath.
It is about a five-minute walk from Matsumoto Honbako along Yamanote-dori. Stop by as you explore Asama Onsen.
