Our wood-fired log sauna is built from cedar from Nagano. Its custom-made stove is among the largest in Japan. It operates on Saturdays and Sundays only.
As in the main bathing area, there are two cold plunges: a 20°C bath with a continuous supply of mineral-rich spring water and a bath chilled to 9°C. These are deeper than the indoor cold baths, allowing you to immerse yourself while standing.
Drinks such as yuzu cordial are complimentary. Open your eyes and Mount Makihata fills the view.
Japan has a long tradition of extended hot-spring stays, known as toji. What about a sauna version? Enjoy a few sauna sessions each day and spend the rest of your time taking it easy.
At the time of writing, we are also recruiting sauna-loving staff to help run — and continually improve — the wood-fired sauna. Work at weekends, and you can enjoy the main baths’ saunas and hot springs on your weekdays off too. We would love to hear from you!
And yes, we are talking about 10 Stories Stay Yuzawa Uonuma!
