How Yuzawa Uonuma came to be — Part 2

2026.09.30

Cloudy hot-spring water, flowing straight from the source!

At 10 Stories Stay Yuzawa, hot-spring water pours directly from the source. It is cloudy, and tiny bubbles cling to your skin. Guests sometimes tell us the floor is slippery: within a few hours of cleaning, bubbles coat the floor too, making it very slick. It can be hazardous, so take care, but it is also a sign of the fresh flow. Some 300 litres of source water enter every minute, constantly renewing the bath.

The sauna’s cold baths are special too. Water from a separate well emerges at 20°C, also rich in minerals. For regulatory reasons we cannot label it a hot spring, although analysis places its mineral composition in the sodium-calcium sulphate category. One bath has a generous free flow of this water, while a second uses a chiller to bring it down to 9°C.

Some people prefer a longer dip at 20°C after the sauna; others favour a bracing single-digit cold plunge. Both use mineral-rich spring water, though we cannot officially call it onsen water. We hope you enjoy this little bathing paradise.

The property was also designed with a contemporary take on toji — longer stays centred on bathing and rest — in mind, so it has a shared kitchen. We hope it will also suit people managing their calorie intake or living with food allergies.

From ¥9,000 a night. If you love hot springs or would like to try a modern toji stay, come to 10 Stories Stay Yuzawa Uonuma!
